Tanuki is a Tokyo-based graphic design studio run by Genki Abe. They mainly design printed matter, but also visual identities, websites and physical spaces for cultural institutions, brands, artists, architects, publishers and other national and international businesses.
Tanuki introduces a new publication concept called Danryu (Warm Current), which provides seasonal visuals and serves as a platform to collaborate with creatives they are interested in. The first issue features Japanese photographer/artist Rie Suzuki (@riesuzuki_p).
Tanuki focuses on collaboration and on the dialogue in the process of designing. Their design is inspired by laughter and humor. In addition to the new publication, a number of commissioned works are also on display, providing insights into Tanuki’s design process.
Alongside commissioned publications, Tanuki also publishes self-initiated projects under the name edition kozo. Nine recent publications are on display and can be purchased.
